The Rotary Club of Altrincham backs race to End Polio Now
6:00pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
THE president of the Rotary Club of Altrincham is promoting the campaign to eradicate polio by putting ‘End Polio Now’ logos on all cars competing in the Classic Formula Ford Championship this season.
David Williams, CEO of Keyline Communications, has been sponsoring the race competition for two years and wants to use the media coverage the competition attracts to raise awareness of End Polio Now.
There are nine events in the 2013 season with races at Croft Circuit (September 21-22) and Castle Combe Circuit (October 6) still to come.
Many of the events have attracted national television and media coverage and races at Donington Park and Mallory Park were broadcast live on Motors TV.
Mr Williams said: “Sponsoring has proved to be an excellent way of promoting Keyline Telephony and Telepay and we hope we’ll be just as successful raising public awareness of End Polio Now by putting the logo on all the cars.”
Rotary made the pledge in 1985 to eradicate polio and have since worked to reduce the number of polio endemic countries from 125 to just three; Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
