A BRAVE Partington pensioner has raised more than £800 for charity – by having all of her hair shaved off.

Jacqueline Taylor, 67, originally agreed to the radical hair cut as a joke, but soon settled to the task once she had decided to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), as her husband Geoffrey died three years ago due to a heart condition.

Jacquie had her hair shaved off at Ladycare hair salon in Urmston on August 21.

She said: “The event went really well, everyone was really supportive. The salon was full of BHF balloons and people who dropped by were treated to a glass of wine and a slice of cake.”

Jacquie added: “I’m hoping I can raise £1000. People who didn’t know about the event keep coming up to me and asking what’s happened.

“When I tell them I had my head shaved for charity they kindly sponsor me. The donations are still coming in.”

BHF fundraising and volunteer manager, Shirley McNally, said: “It’s touching to see how Jacquie has turned the loss of a loved one into hope for other heart patients.

“Heart disease can affect anyone, young, old, male or female – it doesn’t discriminate. We all know someone who has been affected by heart disease, and we appreciate the support these volunteers have put into raising funds so that we can continue our life-saving research.”
