New facility is just the ticket for Altrincham
12:50pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
A NEW ticket office has opened at Altrincham Interchange as part of the major refurbishment of the building.
The new facility replaces the original booking hall and Travelshop on platform one and provides a one-stop-shop for bus, train and tram tickets and general travel advice.
The temporary ticket office on platform four has now closed.
The £19 million redevelopment of the interchange – overseen by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and being delivered by Laing O’Rourke – is on track for completion next year.
Howard Hartley, TfGM’s head of bus operations, said: “It’s great to have this new ticket office open: it’s clean, modern and has brought everything together so passengers can get everything they need from one place.
“The opening of the ticket office is a sign of things to come under the refurbishment. I am sure it will make a big difference for passengers, especially while the work to the bus station is under way.”
Lee Wasnidge, area director for Northern Rail added: “We are delighted to be part of this project, which is helping transform travel opportunities for the local community in Altrincham. The new ticket office is a valued addition to the growing interchange development.”
Bus services continue to run from temporary stops during the interchange refurbishment.
