Altrincham pub pays tribute to Bobbie
5:00pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
A PUB landlord and his partner have paid tribute to a popular customer who died last month.
Bobbie Meakins died of cancer, aged 61, but her memory lives on at one of her favourite haunts - the Bricklayers Arms in George Street, Altrincham.
And that's where landlord Phil Harris and his partner, Louise Brownell have framed Bobbie’s own special wine glass.
"She really was a good pal," said Phil, "and so several years ago I presented her with her own special wine glass."
Alongside the glass is a photograph of a smiling Bobbie and the front cover of the programme from her funeral service.
Underneath are the words: "Always in our minds. Never forgotten."
Louise said: "Bobbie's son, Nicolas said his mum was a 'social butterfly' and he never said truer words."
Bobbie's partner, Pete Keanan, who shared a flat with Bobbie in Timperley's Deansgate Lane, said: "I have been deeply moved by this generous gesture."
