Plea to keep your dog under control
5:10pm Sunday 28th July 2013 in News
THE Royal Mail is appealing to people in Trafford to keep their dogs under control.
The incidence of dog attacks on postmen and women increases during the summer months when parents and children are more likely to be at home and dogs more likely to be let loose in the garden or on the street.
Since April 2011, there have been more than 5,500 attacks on Royal Mail postmen and women across the UK, some leading to a permanent, disabling injury.
Darren Thain, director of safety for Royal Mail in the north west said: “Last year, across the country, the number of dog attacks on our people fell.
“However there were still almost 150 incidents in the north west and we need to reduce this number further as even one dog attack on our people is one dog attack too many.”
