TRAFFORD’S planning chiefs have rejected two controversial supermarket schemes for Broadheath, because of the impact they would have on plans to regenerate Sale.
Both Asda and Morrisons want to build stores on neighbouring sites in the area – Asda on Lyon Industrial state, on Atlantic Street and Morrisons on the B & Q site on Atlantic Street.
But the planning committee decided both applications should be refused because of the effect they would have on regeneration plans for Sale’s Square shopping centre.
