THE Counselling and Family Centre has received the royal seal of approval after being awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The Altrincham centre, which has more than 30 trained counsellors, supported by a further large group of volunteers in everything from administration to building maintenance, provides help, support and advice to children and adults.

Cllr Patricia Young said: “The vital work of the volunteers at the centre is being done quietly and sensitively away from the glare of publicity.

“We are delighted that their 37 years of serving the community has been recognised at the highest level and I would like to congratulate them on their achievement in obtaining this prestigious award.”
