TV survival expert ‘Bear Grylls dropped in’ on more than 900 scouts from Trafford and Salford at the weekend.

The scouts came together at Bispham Hall in Wigan.for their county camporee – a movie-themed multi activity event.

And on Sunday Bear Grylls, the UK chief scout, arrived in his helicopter to join in the celebrations.

Bear took part in a variety of activities - including welly ‘wanging ‘ or throwing, axe throwing and archery.

Bear then spent some time speaking to the scouts and signed various items of clothing.

Group scout leader Andy Farrell, 31, from Stretford said: “It was great having Bear involved this weekend. As an adventurer he sums up what scouting is all about. He’s the idol of many scouts and is an inspiration to adults to volunteer."
