THE four Trafford men arrested after a huge drug seizure in Essex have been charged.


Paul Harwood, 50, of Woodsend Road South, Urmston, Steven Harwood, 25, of Valley Road, Urmston, Andrew Wilde, 52, of Wood Lane, Partington and Karl Peter Glennon, 46, of Davyhulme Road, Urmston, were all charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.


Three other men and one woman from Cheshire and Merseyside were charged with the same offence and appeared at Halton Magistrates Court, in Runcorn, yesterday.

It is understood that Steven and Paul Harwood did not appear in court, but all four of the Trafford accused were remanded in custody and will next appear at Warrington Crown Court on April 29.


Cocaine with a street value of £12 million was seized by police in Chelmsford, Essex on Saturday afternoon (April 6), in the biggest drug seizure ever achieved by Titan, (the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit).


A van was stopped in Chelmsford and two men were detained with the vehicle – Titan officers, supported by the South East Regional Crime Unit, the Serious Organised Crime Agency and Border Policing Command, then searched the vehicle – and discovered approximately 80 kgs of cocaine.


The seizure led to six further arrests across the North West.

Richard Brookhouse, 45 and Diane Brookhouse, 41, both of Coronation Avenue, Grappenhall, Warrington, Gerrard Garner Mooney, 30, of Denstone Avenue, Aintree, Merseyside and Carl Wall, 36, of Poplar Close, Halewood, Merseyside, were also charged.


All except Diane Brookhouse, who was bailed with conditions, were remanded and will appear at Warrington Crown Court on April 29.
