IN a shock late season move Manchester City have surged ahead of arch rivals United - at a Stretford store.

The spectacle of a clear Blue victory is in sight for Jayne Simcock, manager of independent community opticians Specialeyes, whose ‘ground’ is in the Stretford Mall.

Life-long City fan Jayne has tackled optical assistant - and United fan - Lindsey Logue, to try and sell more Manchester United spectacles than Manchester City specs’ by the end of the season.

The current score is Manchester City 20 pairs to United’s12.

Jayne said: “Yes, I’ve already had the jokes about City fans being more short-sighted and needing glasses more than United fans!”

Specialeyes has been selling the club-dedicated specs for about three months. United are top of the Barclays Premier League and City are in second place.
