THE Altrincham-based Vegetarian Society - the voice of vegetarians in the UK - has appointed a new boss.
Lynne Elliot takes over as the charity’s chief executive, and will be managing a team of 30 at its Dunham Road base.
Along with the other members of the team she will be representing and supporting the membership organisation and the UK’s two million vegetarians.
She said: “I am really excited to be joining the Vegetarian Society. At the moment the pound in everyone's pocket has to go further and the world’s resources are stretched.
“A good vegetarian diet is cheap, healthy, kind to animals and much kinder to the planet. We will be working hard over the next few years to make sure that everyone can feel good about eating less meat and helping to make a brighter future for us all.”
For the previous three years Lynne has been chief executive of Salford Community and Voluntary Service.
