Surveys "rubbish" council refuse plans
3:56pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News
SURVEYS centred on Trafford Council plans for fortnightly general refuse collections have revealed a lack of support from the borough’s residents.
A total of 142 people voted on Messenger’s website and 65% said they didn’t back the change to the service, which will be rolled out across Trafford over the spring and summer. Only 35% said they backed the change, which will also see food and garden waste collected on a weekly basis.
A survey conducted by the residents' group Trafford Locals revealed 86% of the 199 people questioned would favour a weekly grey bin collection service and 14% supported the council’s move to fortnightly general refuse collections.
The Trafford Locals survey was carried out using the social networking site Twitter.
