MANCHESTER United hero Gary Neville kicked off Climate Week on Friday.

The TV pundit joined school children from the area at Old Trafford Museum to discuss the climate initiative and combine his love of football with his passion for protecting the environment.

Gary also seized the opportunity to encourage football clubs of all levels to organise their own ‘climate week match’, which involves orgnaising lift-shares on match days and making or buying low-carbon food.

Gary said: “I encourage clubs, from players to ground staff, to plan their own Climate Week Match.

“If every club can kick off more sustainably then we can call time on football’s environmental impact.”

Climate week ran from March 4 to 10, with more than half a million people taking part in 3,000 events across the week.
