FOLLOWING the demise in recent years of Hale's ‘Friends of Stamford Park’, former committee member, Hazel Roberts, is working to relaunch the group.

“We’re very lucky to have a beautiful Victorian park in our neighbourhood,” said Hazel.

“It was opened in 1880 and although some of its original features like the bandstand and the statue of Eve have disappeared, we still treasure features like the duck pond, the water fountain and ornamental flower beds.

"They all need protecting and we would also like to start improving the park, providing new features and facilities appropriate to the 21st century and making the park a focus for fun community events once again.”

The date for a public meeting to be held in Altrincham will be announced soon.

The Friends group is appealing for people who want to make a difference, be it big or small. Anyone wishing to become a member straight away is asked to email friendsofstamfordpark@hotmail.com for further details.
