CCTV stills of two men who left a victim with a fractured jaw after a night out in Altrincham have been released.

Police would like to speak to the men in connection with the assault and are appealing to anyone who recognises them to come forward.

The unprovoked assault happened on Stamford New Road between 1.55am and 2.10am on January 27.

The 21-year-old victim had become separated from his friends after stopping to withdraw some cash from an ATM machine, when he was attacked by two men he did not know.

Without provocation, they launched into an assault, repeatedly punching him in the face which left him requiring hospital treatment for two fractures to his jaw.

Det Con Cherylin Allen said: "This young man was out enjoying a night out when he was confronted by two men he had never met before, both of whom launched into a ferocious and unnecessary attack.

"So violent was their actions that the victim needed hospital treatment to two fractures to his jaw.

"I would appeal to anyone who has information about what happened to come forward. In particular, I would urge people to look closely at the images we have released and if you think you recognise these two men, then please call us."
