Transport for Greater Manchester has new man at the helm

TRANSPORT for Greater Manchester’s (TfGM) new chief executive has got to work in his new role.

Jon Lamonte succeeds David Leather who, since 2006, had been seconded to the position from Ernst & Young.

Jon joined from his role as chief executive officer of Tube Lines, a subsidiary company of Transport for London..

He has previously held a range of senior roles in the Royal Air Force and Ministry of Defence.

TfGM is overseeing a £2 billion-plus investment in public transport improvements.

Jon, aged 53, said: “I’ve arrived in Greater Manchester at an incredibly exciting time.

“There are so many exciting initiatives under way, not least the Metrolink expansion.

“We are building on strong foundations which will see Greater Manchester fighting fit for generations to come.”
