EMERGENCY services were called to a section of the River Mersey in Sale following reports of a woman in the water.
Police and firefighters were called to Danefield Road at around 12.10pm and found that the woman was already out of the river and being treated by North West Ambulance staff when they arrived.
The woman, who is believed to be 66, was taken to Trafford General Hospital by paramedics.
