Family of Old Trafford woman killed by tram pay tribute

THE family an 85-year-old Old Trafford woman who was killed after being hit by a tram has paid tribute.

Catherine Kenny, who was originally from Ireland, was hit by the tram in Failsworth shortly before 10.45pm on February 6.

Her family released the following statement: “She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and cherished friend to all who knew her and will be very sadly missed.”

On February 6, police were called to a Metrolink line near Old Road, following reports of a collision.

Officers attended and found that a pedestrian, now identified as Catherine Kenny, had been in collision with a tram.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metrolink line in the area was closed for the remainder of the evening, but services resumed the next morning.
