THE LifeCentre, a new multi-purpose community facility on Washway Road in Sale, welcomed several hundred neighbours and friends to a community open day on Saturday.

They went to look around the new £3.3m church and community centre at the junction of Washway Road and Raglan Road.

The previous church and a council-owned community centre were demolished to make way for a building housing both facilities.

The LifeCentre has been developed by LifeChurch, in partnership with Trafford and King’s Way Church.

Operations director David Rolles said: “We were absolutely delighted by the high level of interest in the LifeCentre and the visitors’ enthusiastic reactions as they toured the building.

"Children enjoyed activities including balloon-making and face-painting, and their parents and grandparents sampled excellent cappuccinos and cakes in Café56.

"Many said that they would be back to take part in the varied community and church activities that the LifeCentre will host."

It is open seven days a week, and as well as a café, offers 10 rooms for hire which will serve a wide variety of users including the two churches, other charities, community groups and businesses.

The formal opening by the Mayor of Trafford will take place on April 17.
