THIS Valentine’s Day, love is in the air at Northern Rail stations and on-board its trains, as declarations of adoration are shared across the network.

Keeping them short and sweet, passengers can Tweet love messages to @Northern_Cupid, including their Valentine's local station as the #hashtag and they will see the message scroll across the Customer Information Screens (CIS) on the morning of Thursday 14 February.

Joselyn Rankin, public relations Manager for Northern Rail is hoping the opportunity will encourage commuters to take the plunge in public, “As well as sharing love letters and sweet nothings between couples, we’re encouraging any passengers who are considering proposing, to get in touch and we can help arrange a very special surprise at their local station.”

“Couples often spend Valentine’s Day apart, Northern Cupid is going to help remind them that their loved one is thinking of them, even on the morning commute!”

“Special requests are also being taken to be read out on-board trains, just include the service your Valentine will be travelling on and we’ll help set hearts a flutter!”

Passengers are reminded that it is family friendly messages only; inappropriate or abusive messages will not be accepted. Messages can be sent up until 23.59 on Wednesday 13 February and must be 140 characters or less.

Marriage proposals should be addressed to our resident Lionel Richie at hello@northernrail.org We are only able to post messages on the CIS systems we manage. For a full list, please the news story see our website www.northernrail.org/news/7205
