Man required surgery on broken jaw after being attacked on night out in Altrincham

A MAN needed extensive surgery for a broken jaw after being punched in the face while on a night out in Altrincham.

The 21-year-old man was out celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday when he became victim of the unprovoked attack at around 2am on January 27.

The victim had stopped to get money out of the Lloyds TSB ATM machine in the town centre and was punched in the face a number of times by two men as he walked towards Stamford New Road to catch up with his friends.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to two separate jaw fractures, which required extensive surgery.

The offenders were white and one of them was wearing glasses and had short shaven hair.

Det Con Cherylin Allen said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack on a man who was enjoying a night out in friends.

"He has been left badly injured and was hospitalised for three days. He is unable to return to university or work as his jaw has had to be rewired.

"We have carried out a number of enquiries to trace the people responsible but we are urging anyone who was out that night and who may have saw what happened to call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9168 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
