A 16-year-old Olympic swimming hopeful from Timperley has been found dead in her bed.

The parents of Chloe Waddell, have paid tribute to the daughter they describe as charming and popular.

Chloe was found by her parents at their home on Bryons Drive, at around 8.30am on February 3.

They desperately tried to revive her, she was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by ambulance but later died.

A statement on behalf of Chloe’s family read: "We are devastated. Chloe was exceptionally outgoing, extremely popular and had a wonderful smile - she was always smiling at all times and she had a kind word for everybody at all times.

"There was never a dark day for Chloe, everywhere she went she had lots of friends. She was charming and polite, accepting and encouraging.

"She worked incredibly hard. She loved swimming, she was very focused on it and she wanted to go as far as she could.

“She was also bright academically, everything she did she gave 100 percent. We are very proud of her."

Det Insp Debbie Oakes said: "Chloe was an exceptionally bright girl with a huge future. Her family have suffered an unimaginable loss and our thoughts are with them at what is clearly a traumatic time for them.

"I want to make it clear that we are working very closely with HM Coroner and the family to keep them fully informed as the investigation progresses.

"However, I also want to stress that there are no suspicious circumstances and we would ask the media not to falsely speculate or publish inaccurate rumours and cause the family any more distress."

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Chloe’s death.
