New Look confirms closure of Altrincham store

ALTRINCHAM town centre has suffered another blow when it was announced that a Stamford Quarter store would be closing.

New Look women's fashion store confirmed to Messenger that the lease on the Altrincham store had expired and as such the company would be closing the store on February 9.

New Look added that most of the staff from the Altrincham store will be redeployed to other nearby branches; New Look in both Manchester Arndale and Stretford, will continue to trade as usual.

Chairman of Altrincham Forward and leader of Trafford Council, Cllr Matt Colledge, said: ”We were aware of reports last year that the company was looking to close up to 100 stores, but knew that the Stamford Quarter were in discussions regarding the future of the Altrincham branch.”

Of the Altrincham Forward initiative, Cllr Colledge added: “Together with the lowest car parking charges in the north west and the huge regeneration programme about to begin, will hopefully ensure a successfully future for the town.”
