ST Ambrose College young missionaries will fly out to their sister school in Sierra Leone next month to experience life outside their privileged bubble.

The 10 day tip will be the first by St. Ambrose College since November 2011 but their fifth visit in total. Together with sister Christian Brothers' schools in the U.K., St. Ambrose has helped to build schools both in the Sierra Leoneon capital free Town and the second city Bo, which lies further inland.

Toby Kelly, 17, explained the group's feelings: “In suburban Hale Barns, we live in a privileged bubble and I think we all want to see how a different culture survives and just what we can do to help.”

Matthew Mottram, 18, added: “We have heard from previous generations of Ambrosians about life in Sierra Leone and seen their pictures but actually visiting this embattled West African community will be a wonderful and humbling experience.”
