GENEROUS customers at a pub in Dunham Massey sponsored a regular to adopt a colourful new hairstyle.

Carpenter Geoff, from Ashton-on-Mersey, underwent the hair-dyeing on December 22 at the Vine Inn, and now sports a purple hairdo.

“Curly Geoff” has so far raised £315 for Caritas Care, who provide adoption, fostering, learning disability services and community projects throughout the north west.

This figure is set to be doubled by Barclays bank.

Landlord Stewart Wilson, who organised the event, said: “It was a really fun day, apart from for Geoff of course, but he found the funny side in the end.

“He was like the condemned man waiting to be hung.”

Plumber Carl Stoney, also a regular at the pub, is set to undergo a sponsored chest, back and leg waxing at the end of January for Caritas.
