The Co-operative donates £20,000 in memory of colleague
LIZ Bailey (left) and Paul Connolly (right) from The Co-operative Food presented a cheque for £20,000 to Altrincham resident Cath Flynn (centre).
Cath is the mother of Mary Flynn, a popular employee of the Co-operative, who sadly lost her fight against cancer on Christmas Eve 2011.
The £20,000 was raised during the Co-operative’s annual Supplier Awards Charity Dinner and is in addition to £4,000 that its human resources team raised completing the Race for Life in Mary’s memory. Cath will donate the funds to the Christie Cancer Hospital where Mary was treated and cared for.
Paul Connolly, regional operations manager for the Co-operative, said: “Mary was a real character; she spread sunshine wherever she went and made true friends along the way. Her great sense of humour and positive outlook touched so many people at The Co-operative and she is sadly missed.”
