ALTRINCHAM'S community carol service will be held at St Margaret’s Church, Dunham Road, Altrincham, on December 13, from 7.30pm.

This is an ecumenical service, which it is hoped will bring together representatives of varying organisations and individuals of the town, to celebrate this special time of year.

The theme this year is: “What the Dickens! A Christmas Carol… I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach," - from a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.”

This year being Charles Dickens bicentennial year the service will weave the essence of Christmas from the past, today and to look towards tomorrow.

A part of the service will be singing a specially written carol, during the singing of this a special collection will be made to the Christian Aid Big Christmas Sing Appeal Oldfield Brow Primary School Choir and Viva Voices will also be part of the service.
