ALTRINCHAM'S Christmas Lights Switch On takes place tonight (Thursday, November 22).

The fun begins at 5.30pm in the Stamford Quarter.

BBC presenter Jacey Normand will be welcoming everybody to the switch on and Altrincham Children’s Choir will make their debut performance.

Tom from Manchester band Brouhaha will also put in an appearance before the band performs at the Twilight Market - which also opens tonight.

Late night Christmas shopping begins and Marks & Spencer is holding a free Magic & Sparkle event for all customers and visitors.

Jacey will be introducing some more special guests on stage before the countdown begins.

When the lights come on it will be time to head to Altrincham Market for an evening of browsing, banter and Brouhaha – at 6.30pm the 7-piece band opens proceedings at Altrincham’s new Thursday night venue – the historic Market House.

From 5pm to 8pm, Angela Roscoe, store manager of Marks & Spencer is inviting everybody to join her team in a celebration of Christmas. There will be food and wine tasting, a fashion show and free mince pies when you buy a hot drink in the coffee shop.
