THE Altrincham Rotary Club and the Salvation Army are aiming to bring festive cheer to hundreds of youngsters - and they want Messenger readers to help them.

The two organisations have joined forces to spearhead a Christmas toys appeal and they are calling on Messenger readers to donate new toys and games to help under-privileged children in the Trafford area.

Last year the Salvation Army’s appeal gave out more than 700 new toys and games to youngsters in Trafford at Christmas time.

This was the biggest demand yet for families to be supported over the festive period - and it is expected that this year the demand will be even greater.

The groups are asking for new toys, for children aged up to 16, not wrapped. they can be dropped off either at the Salvation Army headquarters 27 Ashton Lane , Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm; at the Salvation Army shop, School Road, Sale; or Luxistores, Timperley Village, during shop opening times.
