YOUNG people in Trafford were targeted by a multi-agency-initiative designed to keep them safe during the Halloween and Bonfire Night season.

Four members of the GMFRS Community Action Team (CAT) and police officers and staff from Trafford Youth Offending Team visited four different areas of the borough on October 27 as part of Operation Stay Safe.

The aim was to engage as many young people as possible, advise them on how to stay out of trouble and how to avoid and protect themselves as part of the wider Operation Treacle.

This was done through the use of iPads and people-carriers with blacked out windows, which attracted the attention of many curious youngsters.

Stretford Station Manager Ben Levy said: “Operation Stay Safe has been running in Trafford for a number of years with GMFRS as a key partner.

“It’s come a long way from its early days where it was solely about targeting vulnerable young people at risk of harm out late at night.
