Upon arrival, officers found that a Vauxhall Corsa had been driven into a tree.
Both the man driving and the passenger, John Hodson, were taken to Hope Hospital, the driver suffered a serious chest injury and Mr Hodson suffered serious head injuries and later died.

In a statement, Mr Hodson’s parents, Gary Skelhorn and Jean Hodson, said: “We are truly devastated by the sudden death of John, who was our beloved son, also a beloved brother and uncle.

"You will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
"Sleep tight, and God bless. May the angels be looking over you.
"Love you always, Mum and Dad."
Insp Matt Bailey-Smith said: "We have specially trained officers assisting both families and I pass on our sympathies at this difficult time.
"At the moment the exact cause of the collision is still being established and, for that reason, I would ask that anyone who believes they saw the car prior to the collision or may even have witnessed the collision, should call us."
