'Slow down' campaign for dark evenings
7:40pm Saturday 27th October 2012 in News
A CHARITY has launched an appeal urging drivers to take action to prevent ‘clocks-go-back’ casualties on the dark days.
Road safety charity Brake has joined forces with Autoglass to launch the Bright Days initiative which asks drivers to slow down to 20mph around homes, shops and schools.
The campaign aims to protect pedestrians and cyclists who are at higher risk of being injured as they become harder to spot on darker evenings.
Schools are also being encouraged to run a ‘Bright Day’ during Road Safety Week, November 19 to 25, where pupils wear their brightest clothes to raise awareness for road safety.
