Smart way to find your way around town

A NEW smart-phone app for bus users has been launched by the Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).

The free ‘next stop alert’ application will help direct people to their nearest Metroshuttle via an interactive map on their phone.

Once onboard, the map will keep the passenger informed of when stops are approaching on their route using wireless mapping technology.

Susan Wildman, TfGM’s director of communications and customer Services, said: “We are keen to capitalise on the rise in popularity of mobile technology to help passengers make their way around.”

The app has been produced by TfGM for Android smart phones and has also been set up to make it easier for city visitors and tourists to get around Manchester.

It will be made available on trial until March 2013 and will continue dependant on customer feedback.
