Brickbats and praise after vegetation is cut down along Thorley lane, Timperley

Shrubbery has been cut down long Thorley Lane
A GARDEN centre's decison to cut down trees, shrubs and bushes along its perimeter fence has provoked a mixed reaction.
A Timperley man has been left ‘hacked off’ that Altrincham Garden Centre chopped down the vegetation along Thorley Lane, Timperley.
Peter Blackburn, claimed that the area had been left in a ‘disgraceful state'.
He said the plant life had been there for more than 40 years and was an important habitat for wildlife, which he believes will now be affected.
Peter said: “Yes the area needed pruning but there was nothing wrong with it, I was appalled when I first saw it.”
But grandmother Mrs V Hart, of Henson Grove, Timperley, applauded the work.
She said: "I would like to say well done to the staff at Wyevale for tidying up the nasty ground along Thorley Lane.
"This has been a disgrace for years and at last it's been done. I've been sick of complaining about it.
"I walk along this road with my grandchildren and the shrubs have been full of dog waste and dead plants and bushes for years. Also it's been a haven for bad people to hide when you're walking past.
"But now it looks so much better and let's hope people will now take their dog mess home rather than leave it here for my grandchildren to tread in."
Altrincham Garden Centre, formerly known as Wyevale, declined to comment on the issue.
