TRANSPORT bosses have stepped in to ensure essential bus services stay on the road, after a bus company withdrew at short notice.
Bus operator Vale of Manchester has axed eight services, inclluding three in Trafford.
The passenger transport executive (GMPTE) is offering emergency contracts to other bus operators and hopes to restore most of the services in the next few days.
The Trafford services affected are: the 54 from Cheetham to Rusholme to the Trafford Centre; the 272 from Sharston to Sale, Stretford and Trafford Park; 276 from Trafford General to Wythenshawe Hospital.
The 514 service to Bury, Farnworth, Walkden and the Trafford Centre will not be replaced as passengers can use other services to reach most parts of its route.
Bus users can check their services before travelling at www.gmpte.com or by calling Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
