THOUSANDS of households across south Manchester were left without water this morning after a mains pipe burst.

United Utilities engineers were working on Sunday to fix the pipe on Joseph Glebe Road, Stretford, which ruptured at about 0615 BST.

It left homes in Stretford, Altrincham, Sale and Timperley without water.

United Utilities said it had re-routed supplies from another source to fix the problem and the supply was now back to normal.

This latest problem comes just days after a mains pipe burst in Brooklands Road, Sale.

What were your experiences of having no water this morning? Leave a comment below.

it amazes me how badly we cope with a small inconvinience.
everyone panick buying bottled water in the supermarkets, people pushing and shoving to get the larger 5 litre bottles!!!
how would they all cope if they were in the middle of the current earth quake crisis in China?
i am too young to remember the war blitz but according to my gran they survived well then!!
but today a burst water pipe puts us to a standstill!!!
mind boggling,
