TALENTED brothers Jonathan and Tom Scott share and interweave keyboards to great effect.

The Scott Brothers Duo are coming to the Avenue Methodist Church, Wincham Road, Sale, for an evening of piano and organ.

Jonathan said: “Compared to the large concert halls where we often perform, Sale gives us a chance to appear at a friendly, intimate venue.

“We love this style of concert and the Avenue church has a fantastic grand piano and pipe organ, at floor level, in front of the audience.”

No one will miss their 10 fingers flying across the piano as they perform on one instrument because TV screens will project their interaction on the keyboard as Jonathan and Tom, both in their 30s, play the William Tell Overture and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 as duets.

Later, the combination of the organ played by Jonathan, and Tom on the piano will make for an emotional experience.

As well as sharing keyboards, the brothers share other things, too. Both attended Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music and both are staff members of RNCM.

Tom made his concerto debut when he performed Prokofiev’s lst Piano Concerto at the Bridgewater Hall in 1999.

Jonathan, who in 2006 was made a Freeman of the City of London, is Associate Artist at the Bridgewater Hall where he gives lunchtime organ concerts attracting audiences of up to one thousand people.

Recently, they have performed in Taiwan, Spain, Germany and France.

They are planning a tour of China and will, shortly, appear in Belgium and Germany.

Jonathan said: “The music we will perform in Sale will be audience friendly and enjoyable. We want to bring classical music to a wider audience.”

* The Scott Brothers Duo will appear at The Avenue Methodist Church, Wincham Road, Sale on Saturday. April 14, at 7.30. Admission £10.
