FOR their next production, the Garrick present Rutherford and Son, a play about a glass manufacturer and his family set just before the First World War.
It first opened in 1912 when people were surprised it had been written by a woman, Gita Sowerby - unheard of in those days.
Although Mr Rutherford is a widower, he is not alone.  His three grown up children, Janet, John and Richard, live with him as do John’s wife and baby.
Rutherford rules his family and employees with an iron rod.
The outcome is a mutiny which threatens to destroy the family and the factory..
* Rutherford and Son is at the Garrick Playhouse from Monday, April 3 – Saturday, April 8.   Tickets, priced £13.00 - £16.00 are available from the Garrick Box Office at 0161 928 1677 Option 1.
