A TRIBUTE show to Simon and Garfunkel is coming to Altrincham Garrick Theatre.

‘Simon & Garfunkel: Through the Years’ can be seen at the theatre on June 16.

Accompanied by a live string quartet, Bookends perform the most authentic sounding tribute to the unforgettable music of Simon & Garfunkel.

Incredibly accurate live re-creations of the classic songs are bound together with imagery and interviews with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, as the concert goes behind the scenes of the most successful folk-rock duo.

It has been created by old friends Dan Haynes and Pete Richards who, like Simon and Garfunkel, met in school and began singing together at just 16 years old.

Skipping lessons in college to learn their favourite songs paid off and the pair are now wowing audiences around the world with their multilayered concert experience which, as well as accurate live renditions of the iconic songs, also features a backdrop of images, original footage and interviews with Simon and Garfunkel themselves. The concert also features narration written by Victoria Kingston, the author of Simon and Garfunkel – The Definitive Biography.

Described by the BBC as “not your average tribute act”, they don’t dress up or try to act like Simon and Garfunkel but instead pay tribute to the iconic sound that the duo are famous for by recreating the perfect harmonies, timing and diction that mesmerised a generation.

Touring as Bookends (their name is taken from their favourite Simon & Garfunkel album), the pair have toured extensively visiting prestigious venues such as the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Lowry and the breathtaking Minack Theatre in Penzance.

They have performed consecutive sell-out runs at the 2014 and 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals with their concerts being described as ‘simply breathtaking’.
