JOE MEIGHAN, 20, from Flixton, has already made a name for himself by directing Phantom of the Opera for Altrincham Garrick.
The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts student said: “It was great to be involved with such a mega show.”
When only 15, Joe founded Meighan Youth Theatre which has already presented many musicals and now, under Joe’s direction, will do Ghost, the Musical, at Sale’s Waterside Arts Centre.
MYT member, Chris Wagstaff who played the Phantom, will take on the lead of Sam, who is murdered. The part of his pining partner, Molly goes to Hannah Lawson.
“We see early on how in love they are and then Sam passes on. The pair has a huge task both emotionally and vocally.”
The key role of Oda, the clairvoyant will go to Emily Jones.
“She has a strong voice,” said Joe.
The company have had two strokes of luck. Firstly, they managed to get a licence for amateurs before the right is withdrawn at the end of the year.
Secondly, Paul Downham, who does on line social media for the professional tour currently in Beijing, has agreed to be both Deputy Director and Illusions Director.
Because Ghost only premiered in Manchester in 2011, most of the tunes, with the exception of Unchained Melody, are unknown.
A five piece Rock n’Roll band will provide the backing and Kirsty Hooper who choreographed Phantom, will also choreograph Ghost.
* Ghost the Musical will be at Sale Waterside Arts Centre from 6th - 8th August. For tickets, telephone 0161 912 5616 or visit watersideartscentre..co.uk.
