ALTRINCHAM Little Theatre is thrilled to welcome its latest recruit to its ranks - John Chidgey.

The multi-award winning director feels very much at home with comedy, making him the ideal candidate to bring Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest to the stage.

Previous productions include Fawlty Towers, featuring crackpot hotelier Basil Fawlty, and My Night With Reg.

He said he's enjoying rehearsals, working with old friends and making new ones and he expects most of the audience will know many of the lines from this famous and well-loved classic.

in the play, Jack wants to marry Algernon’s cousin Gwendolen, but must first convince her mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell, of the respectability of his parents.

For Jack, having been abandoned in a handbag at Victoria Station, this is an uphill struggle. To put it mildly.
