ALTRINCHAM Garrick's new season starts with the hilarious comedy The Ladykillers from September 15-20. I saw this at The Lowry with Sale actor Marcus Taylor in the cast and it's an absolute hoot.

It is certainly a varied season at the Garrick and this production will be followed by the musical Gypsy, based on the memoirs of the American burlesque entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee. The show runs from October 6-11.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, the theatre will put on Oh What A Lovely War from November 10-15 and this will be followed by the classy comedy Yes, Prime Minister from November 24-29.

Christmas isn't Christmas at the Garrick without a traditional family panto, and this year the company are putting on Jack and the Beanstalk from December 19 to January 4.

New Year highlights include the stunning musical Phantom of the Opera from April 13-17 and the play Breaking The Code, about the appalling treatment received by computer legend Alan Turing when he was 'outed' for being gay. The play runs from April 21-15.

* The Garrick also stages productions at its studio theatre, the Lauriston, and has a number of visiting productions and artists appearing at the venue on Barrington Road.
