Chloe Madeley says her TV presenter parents may be too worried to watch her taking part in Channel 4′s The Jump – despite flying out to support her.

She said her chat host folks Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan had encouraged her to take part in the daredevil winter sports challenge.

But the 27-year-old said they struggle to watch her doing anything risky at the best of times and may have to avert their eyes, when they fly out to Innsbruck in Austria to give her some vocal support.

Chloe, who runs a fitness and nutrition website, said of the Channel 4 series: “Initially they were really in favour of it. They were just like ‘Go, have fun, it’s right up your street, you’ll love it,’ because they know how much I love this sort of thing.

“But I think they then started to think about the possibility of my getting injured – which happened quite a bit on the show last year – and now I think they’re a little bit more worried.”

She went on: “I’ve tried to show them videos of me bungee jumping and sky diving and white water rafting, and they’ll watch the first few seconds and then they’ll make me turn it off. So I don’t know if they’ll actually be watching, but they’ll be making noise, for sure.”

Chloe, who has also previously taken part in ITV’s Dancing On Ice, said her parents would be “whooping and hollering” to cheer her on.

She and the other competitors will take part in a series of winter sports disciplines including skiing, skating and heading down a bobsleigh run. They also face the threat of participating in a ski jump to stay in the contest.

Chloe said she knew so little about skiing she was not sure how the boots and skis operated.

“I’d never even looked at a pair of skis. I didn’t even realise the boots were separate. I thought it was one whole thing. I’d never really even seen a mountain. I mean, kind of from a distance in New Zealand, but not really.”

The Jump begins on Channel 4 on Sunday February 1 at 7pm.
