Matthew McConaughey is keen to try different roles
Matthew McConaughey has revealed he is moving away from the romantic comedy roles that have made him famous.
The star of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Failure To Launch has just made two very different films - Killer Joe, a thriller about a hitman, and Magic Mike, a drama about the world of male stripping.
Matthew said: "It's a new chapter for sure. I've got some really interesting things I've been doing that I haven't done before and these two are definitely two of them.
"So far, from some of the things I've read, some people liked Killer Joe."
Killer Joe director William Friedkin recently said he thought Matthew should make more dramas.
"Well he isn't the guy in these romantic comedies. He's more like Killer Joe," said the filmmaker.
"The reason he did How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days and about 20 other films like it was because he's a very good looking guy and in Hollywood if you're a good looking woman or guy you get cast that way. They don't want you to act. They want you to just show up and be good looking."
