Smulders teases on TV romances

Cobie Smulders has not ruled out a romantic reunion for her character in How I Met Your Mother.

As newsreader Robin Scherbatsky on the E4 sitcom, the Canadian actress has enjoyed screen romances with both Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).

"Robin and Ted are kind of on the outs right now. But in our show, anything is possible," she said.

And the 30-year-old teased: "We have three more episodes airing in the seventh season in the States, and there's a lot of stuff that goes down at the end of this season."

Cobie can currently be seen in the movie Avengers Assemble as agent Maria Hill.

"It was awesome. I have looked for this role for a long time and I was so giddy that I actually got to do it," she said.

"I took on a lot of training to prepare myself for it. Maria didn't get to do a lot of hand-to-hand combat in the film but it was really important to make it look like she could, at any moment, take anyone down. I did a lot of boxing, martial arts and weapons training, and made sure I was really comfortable with my gun."

She added: "The costuming was one of my favourite parts of this film. Some of my costume was just spray paint - it was tight!"

Avengers Assemble is in cinemas now.
