Kate Winslet has admitted that she could have done a better job in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic.

Despite being Oscar-nominated for her role as Rose, after watching herself in the film for the first time in "a long time", Kate said her performance left room for improvement.

"My American accent could have been much better. My acting could have been a lot better," she told MTV News.

But, speaking while marking the 15th anniversary 3D re-release, Kate, 36, said she is happier with the way she looks now.

"I prefer myself as a 36-year-old. It's really weird 'cause when you're 21 you think, 'Oh God, when I'm 36, oh God, that's nearly 40 and I'll look really old and wrinkly by then'. And actually I quite like the way I look. I feel OK about myself these days."

The new Titanic release comes 15 years after the original film was a huge hit, pulling in billions at the box office and winning 11 Oscars.
