THIS Brooklyn-based artist certainly has the image – all quirky hair and eccentric clothing – and the credible music connections such as MIA and Mark Ronson.
But does she have the songs to back it up?
The answer is a resounding yes! With tracks that channel everything from indie, two-tone, dub, electronica, new wave and pop, Santogold sounds so very familiar – with influences such as The Clash, Blondie, Goldfrapp and The Knife – yet it manages to sound so very new.
Stand out tracks include the emotional, guitar heavy LES Artistes, the dark and dubby Say Aha and the jagged Creator, but the whole album is brilliant, packed with tunes that move your heart as much as your feet.
