BY way of introduction, Willy Mason was the lad everyone thought was going to be the new Dylan.
His debut, Where The Humans Eat, had a bunch of politely polemic songs (not least the inspired single Oxygen) that spoke to the information generation. His next effort, If The Oceans Get Rough, has a much glossier production and is more direct in its bid to appeal.
It starts off well: Gotta Keep Walking and the single Save Myself are shiny pop numbers that still maintain the gentle political statements. But there's not enough meat on the bone.
By the middle of the album, I was struggling to stay interested and, while he's clearly confident enough to aim for wider appeal, it's not as fun as his debut.
