THE latest releases for review had been passed around the office. There was one remaining. It was Celine Dion's latest album, the 34th full length release of a prolific fist-clenching career.
While reporters hid under their desks to avoid it, I drew the short straw.
So it was with a heavy heart that I sat down to my soul-destroying task, and my mood wasn't improved by the first track on the album Taking Chances, which was pretty standard fare.
Second track in and, like a student finding a pound amidst the fluff and food scraps down the side of his sofa, I realised that things may be getting better. A cover of the Heart classic Alone. Genius.
Understandably, this is the high point of the album, but there are other notable highlights on there, which should see Celine back in the charts at the ripe old age of 128 (she looks good for her age.) Whisper it quietly, but I actually quite liked the whole thing.
