THIS week has felt like spring has finally sprung and all the sunshine, however long it may last, is making me look forward to what the summer will bring.

The first event to attend will be the Queen's Garden Party and I'm really excited about that.

I love any excuse to put on a suit and tie and there's no finer excuse than for our Queen!

I'm also looking forward to hosting and performing again this year at the annual NHS Party in the Park celebrating 70 years of the NHS here in Urmston where it all started!

Later in the year I'll be performing at the Hale Barns Carnival, which is a fantastic two-day event on St Ambrose College Playing Fields in Hale Barns.

I'm also very proud to be supporting Beechwood Cancer Care again by performing at the Butterfly Ball at the Principal in Manchester.

I will write about these events as they happen, but in the meantime, if you would like to find out more information, then please visit waynedevlin.com

Last time I told you about my role as a judge; this week I thought I'd share my experience of another role connected to the law where I played a corrupt, uniformed police officer in the hit television series Peaky Blinders.

I spent most of the first day having a glass bottle (made from sugar glass) thrown at the back of my head by the Italian gangster Mr Sabini, played brilliantly by Noah Taylor.

The setting was to be a beautiful Italian restaurant but it was actually filmed in a room with all its original tiling and decor at Victoria Baths in Manchester.

Again, I had to be clean shaven for the role and I loved the whole experience. I even got to meet another of my acting heroes, Tom Hardy!

On the second day, one particular scene I was in was seated at the table eating tiramisu with a plain clothed police officer played by Andrew Sheridan and all the Italian mafia!

It took 27 takes for that scene and I've never eaten tiramisu since!

I hope you will join me again next week and thank you for all the tremendous support I have received for my column.
